Practicing on family and friends might be difficult for some so here are few things to help you.
First, when you give a massage as a student you are still a professional! The fact that you don’t receive money does not mean you can behave unprofessionally.
Actually, we would like you to think about it differently.
While you are a student, it is helpful to consider that your family/friends pay you for the session with their feedback.
It’s important to let your family/friends know that you are giving them a massage and they PAY YOU WITH THEIR FEEDBACK. Don’t behave as if you are giving the massage for free.
You can (if feeling comfortable) also 'give a hint' in general terms that now everybody pay you with their feedback and once you finish the course they can pay with money.
Even if you are very friendly with the person you massage, do not fall into the trap of having a cup of tea and a chat with them after the massage as it’s not professional. You can meet with them on another day.
The most important thing is to get their feedback and then let them know (nicely) that after a massage it is best to have a rest and you will ‘catch up’ another day.
Try to enforce this habit now: if you have problems with this issue with your friends now, you will be more likely to have that with your clients later.
